Lawn moles are a nuisance pest that can quickly destroy your yard, landscaping, and garden. We have a solution for even the toughest mole problem. We are the leading Mole Busters of the Kalamazoo area. To start, we’ll first begin by gathering information from you regarding your yard and what damage you have observed the moles making. From there, we will determine the best solution to take care of your Kalamazoo mole issue. We may do that be either trapping the moles, using mole bait, or a combination of the two. Whichever method we use, you can rest assured that our experience and training will help to eliminate moles in your Kalamazoo lawn.

Signs of Moles in your yard

If have noticed raised tunnels and mounds in your yard this is a sign of a mole infestation. These elusive underground pests can be very difficult to spot and even harder for the average homeowner to get rid of. But once you noticed these tunnels or raised soil it is a sign that moles have taken over your yard. Our proven and professional mole control program has been successful throughout the Lansing area and we are confident we can help you with your mole problem.

Additional signs that you are dealing with moles are the formation of volcano like mounds of soil that are raised typically about 1 inch high by 4 inches wide. There may also be soft areas in your lawn that collapse when you step on them. As a homeowner you have spent countless hours keeping up with your landscaping and nothing can be more frustrating than seeing it destroyed by moles. Moles are able to extend runaways by up to 100 feet per day causing damage at an incredible rate. Surface runs may be used on a frequent basis and these connect to deeper runways that are typically 3 to 12 inches below the surface. It is these deep surfaces that are the main runways for a mole and give them the ability to travel to and from the surface and  nest easily.  They deposit this soil from the deep tunnels on the surface which creates the mounds.

Difference between a Mole and Vole

Given that the name mole and vole is closely related it’s no surprise that they are often confused. One mnemonic way of remembering the difference is that Voles are herbivores (vegetarians  = V). Their diet is made up of grasses and leaves. Conversely, Moles are insectivores, or meat eaters (M). Moles will feed on earthworms, insects, and grubs.

Moles live underground and their entire body is designed for a life in the soil. They have very small beady eyes and no visible ears. Their feet are large and built like front paddle making it perfectly adapted for the ability to dig through a lawn as they search for earthworm, beetle grubs, ants and other insects in the soil. Their primary source of food is the earthworm. A common misconception is that if you have a mole problem you also have a grub worm problem, however this is not necessarily true. While moles will eat grub worms, they mostly live off of earthworms. If you think you can eliminate moles by simply taking car of grubs in your yard that is not accurate. Moles are intelligent in that they will follow their food supply. This means that surface tunnels are typically seen more in the spring and in the fall when the ground is moist and earthworms move closer to the surface. When the soil becomes dry and frozen and earthworms go deeper into the ground, the moles do as well.
